Heidsieck Monopole "Gold Top" 2000 - Champagne, FR

I had brought the Monopole "Blue Top" from France, and really liked it. Since I could not find it during our last trip, I tasted this amazing "Gold Top" which is the vintage version, that they release when asssembly wines are worth it.
I am not sure if this can be found in the US, but if you get your hands on a bottle, have a taste, I don't think you'll regret. PS: This one was drunk in honor of my friends of Buzznet. |

Piper Heidsieck "Blue Top" NV - Champagne, France

This is one of my absolute favorites in non vintage Champagnes. We have managed to survive on California bubblies (and the stock of Champagne we had moved over from France), but I have yet to find a superior one (suggestions most welcome).
So last time we were in Paris, we tasted about 20 different Champagnes (life's a bitch sometimes) in the $15 to $25 range, and selected this one. Flavorful, well rounded, medium size bubbles, an absolute pleasure. |
